Vision/Purpose

The BIG EAST Career Consortium strives to elevate and enhance the work of the career services organizations of the BIG EAST schools and provide transformational opportunities and connections to our students, alumni, and employer partners.

Mission

The BIG EAST Career Consortium is a partnership; our members meet to examine trends within career services and deliver collaborative programming for our students, alumni, and employer partners.  We enhance the career services operations at our member institutions by sharing knowledge and best practices and by tapping into our unique networks.

History

Officially established as a nonprofit entity in January 2008, the consortium sponsored its first event in March 2004, the inaugural BIG EAST E-Fair. The venture was so successful that a career fair was planned. The following March, during the BIG EAST men’s basketball tournament at Madison Square Garden, we sponsored our first live career fair with 80 employers and 650 students and alumni. Since then, the live fair has grown to 100 - 150 employers and almost 2000 students and alumni. In 2013 the New BIG EAST Career Consortium formed to carry on the tradition of its predecessors. Our signature events include the BIG EAST Virtual Career Fair & Grad School Fair and a networking event at Madison Square Garden that coincides with the BIG EAST Tournament.

The consortium of career center directors sponsor an annual meeting in New York, a summer symposium, conference calls held throughout the year, professional development opportunities for staff members, discounts on software products, and reciprocal services for students and alumni who relocate from their home school to other BIG EAST school locations.
